Overview: LHH is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney to join our client’s growing litigation team in Florida. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career attorney to gain hands-on experience working on complex, high-value insurance defense matters in a collaborative and supportive environment.
The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of experience in insurance defense litigation, with exposure to medical malpractice matters considered a strong plus. This role offers meaningful responsibility, including managing cases from inception through resolution, while working closely with experienced attorneys on strategic litigation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through resolution, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
- Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions, and support overall litigation strategy.
- Handle all aspects of discovery, including written discovery, depositions, and document review.
- Review and analyze medical records and expert reports in support of case development and defense strategy.
- Ensure compliance with Florida court rules, procedural requirements, and all filing deadlines.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and internal teams regarding case status and strategy.
- Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to ensure efficient case management and progression.
- Maintain accurate and timely billing in accordance with firm and client expectations.
Qualifications:
- Must be an active member in good standing with the Florida Bar.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- 1–3 years of experience in insurance defense litigation.
- Exposure to medical malpractice or healthcare-related litigation is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
