Accountant
A growing organization is seeking an experienced Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting internal and external reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. This position is temp to hire and will pay between $65K and $80K annually.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly and annual close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and account analyses.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, banking activity, intercompany balances, fixed assets, and other general ledger accounts.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Support accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, cash application, account maintenance, and collection efforts.
- Process accounts payable transactions, review vendor invoices, and ensure timely and accurate payment of obligations.
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with internal policies, established procedures, and applicable accounting standards.
- Assist with audit requests by preparing schedules, gathering supporting documentation, and responding to inquiries from auditors.
- Support tax-related reporting and compliance activities as needed.
- Monitor and maintain fixed asset records, including acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.
- Assist with inventory accounting and related reconciliations where applicable.
- Collaborate with internal departments to improve reporting accuracy and support business operations.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting efficiency and internal controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate or public accounting environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience working with ERP or integrated accounting systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across departments.
