Lewis & Clark County Public Works is hiring for a Lead Custodian- Deep Cleaner. Under general supervision from the Buildings Maintenance Supervisor, this position performs routine custodial, deep cleaning, and maintenance duties in County buildings and acts as a lead worker.

Pay: $20.2 - $23.77 / Hour

Who We Are

The Building Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the following County-owned buildings.

Requirements

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and one (1) year facility maintenance or janitorial/cleaning experience. One (1) year of lead worker experience preferred.

Summary

Duties

  • Performs routine facilities maintenance, deep cleaning, and custodial tasks;
  • Vacuums and deep cleans carpets;
  • Dust mops common areas;
  • Deep cleans as needed;
  • Wet mops restrooms and common areas;
  • Strips, waxes and buffs common areas;
  • Shampoos carpets;
  • Cleans restrooms;
  • Replenishes restroom supplies;
  • Sweeps and dusts stairways and damp mops as needed;
  • Dusts and cleans meeting rooms;
  • Rearranges large tables and chairs as needed;
  • Informs supervisor of needed supplies;
  • Performs light maintenance and repairs;
  • Replaces light bulbs;
  • Checks work areas for security and energy loss;
  • Secures buildings and facilities at end of shift;
  • Light snow removal, checking for icy conditions, and applying sand;
  • Leads and directs the work of others;
  • Trains and assists new employees and current employee;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment, including scrubbing and polishing machinery;
  • Operate maintenance equipment, including hand tools and snow removal equipment;

  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  • Establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, and citizens.

Qualifications

Special Requirements

Must pass a pre-employment background check and have a valid drivers license.

Physical Demands

Duties are generally performed in both indoor and outdoor environments where hazards and discomforts are generally controlled and modifiable. Position performs work in all types of weather in the presence of chemicals, fertilizers, and dust. This position must be able to stand, twist, stoop, reach, push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 100 pounds on a brief and random basis. Position requires regular contact with fellow employees and citizens.
