About LMN
Lemon Media Network is the independent media company founded by veteran journalist Don Lemon, built on the conviction that journalism should be done without fear or favor and that a free press is the bedrock of democracy. Through The Don Lemon Show and a growing roster of correspondents and verticals, LMN delivers daily breaking news, political analysis, and cultural commentary to a community of more than 10 million followers across platforms.
We launched in 2024 and have grown fast: a twice-daily live show, a daily newsletter, a fast-growing paid membership community, and a national tour. In April 2026, The Don Lemon Show swept the 30th annual Webby Awards in its category, winning both the Webby and the People's Voice Award for Best Video Podcast Host. Earlier this year the show took home four NAACP Image Awards, including Outstanding News and Information. We're a small, independent team building something that didn't exist two years ago.
The Job
We're looking for an Associate Producer who wants to learn how a daily show actually gets made, on both sides of the glass.
This role sits between editorial and technical, and the person in it will do both. You'll be in show calls arguing for stories. You'll write interview notes for Don. You'll also be the one getting us live across every platform, running the chat and the phone lines during the show, cutting thumbnails and our long-form drops, and heading out with Don to shoot man-on-the-street segments. Some of that you'll already know. Most of it you'll learn here, fast.
You'll learn the technical side working directly with our Senior Technical Director, who has built and runs the operation you'll be taking on pieces of.
This is a role you grow into. Someone who can run the technical operation and hold their own on editorial is a rare combination in this business and a hard one to hire for, so we'd rather build it.
The job is in New York and it's in person. This work is learned standing next to the people doing it.
Sample Responsibilities
The list below is representative, not exhaustive. Because LMN is a small, fast-moving team, the Associate Producer will take on a range of work as the news cycle and the company evolve.
- Get us live across every platform we stream on, and keep us there
- Run the live show from the back end: the chat, member interaction, YouTube polls, and the phone lines when we open them
- Support our Senior Technical Director with long-form editing between live shows (e.g., eventually owning our weekend drop cut from the best of that week's shows, full-length interviews built from raw studio footage)
- Contribute in editorial calls: what we should cover, what we're missing, what's going to travel
- Write interview notes, scripts, and prep materials for Don
- Support booking and help build out our guest directory
- Design thumbnails and packaging for episodes and clips
- Shoot in the field with Don, from iPhone setups with a gimbal and mics through to the camera package as we build it out
- Learn our whole production stack, from stream operations through audio distribution, with the aim of being able to run it
What We're Looking For
- One to three years in production, media, or on a creator's team. Recent graduates of journalism or media programs with real hands-on work should apply
- Comfortable in Premiere, Resolve, or similar. You should be able to cut long form, or be close enough that you'll get there quickly
- Genuine interest in both halves of this job. Plenty of people want the editorial side and tolerate the technical side. We want someone who finds the technical side interesting
- Comfort with live. Things break during live shows and we want someone who gets calmer rather than louder
- Strong news instincts and real curiosity about politics, culture, and where the audience is going
- Sharp writing in AP style, fast, and comfortable being edited
- An eye for design, or the appetite to develop one quickly
- Someone who picks things up without being walked through them twice
- Comfortable being on the internet in our voice, since you'll be talking to our members live
Nice to Have
- Hands-on with streaming software, encoders, or multi-platform distribution
- Camera and audio experience, including field shoots
- Thumbnail and graphics work in Canva, Photoshop, or Figma
- Fluent with AI tools in a real production workflow
- Experience with paid memberships or community management
