What You Will Do
- Drive buses, trolleys, trams, or passenger vans on assigned routes
- Provide assistance to passengers with disabilities or limited mobility
- Collect fares and give excellent customer service
- Check vehicles each day and do small maintenance tasks
- Complete daily reports and paperwork
- Follow all safety rules and traffic laws
- Work alone or with the team as needed
- Assist during emergencies or special events
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- One year of driving buses or heavy vehicles preferred
- Able to work safely and follow DOT drug and alcohol rules
- Strong customer service skills
Licensing
- Have a valid Class A or B CDL with Passenger Endorsement and no Air Brake restriction, OR
- Have a CDL Permit with Passenger Endorsement before hire
- Must get a Florida Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement within 30 days of hire (training and testing provided onsite)
- Transit Bus Drivers must be able to pass a Florida Department of Transportation Medical Examination and maintain a current medical card. This is a safety-sensitive position that is subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing as provided in DOT regulation 49 CFR Part 40 and 655.
Work Schedule
- LeeTran operates seven days a week, including some holidays
- Hours: 4:00 AM – 11:30 PM
- Day and evening shifts available
- Routes assigned by seniority twice a year
- Evening shifts pay extra
- Voluntary overtime may be offered
