As the leader in real estate financial consulting, Launch - Development Finance Advisors is committed to delivering innovative solutions which redefine industry standards. We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our growing team. This is an independent contractor position.
Job Summary
The Staff Accountant will be a vital member of our finance and accounting team, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing daily transactions, and ensuring our books are always audit-ready. This role requires a self-starter who excels at analytical problem-solving and has a deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Key Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management: Prepare and post monthly journal entries for transactions such as accruals, prepaids, and depreciation to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Account Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies to maintain data integrity.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Month-End & Year-End Close: Support the timely closing of books by managing processing deadlines and preparing supporting schedules for leadership review.
- Audit & Tax Support: Gather documentation for external auditors and assist in the preparation of tax returns or regulatory filings (e.g., 1099s, sales tax).
- Transactional Support: Process accounts payable/receivable, manage vendor invoices, and assist with payroll processing as needed. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Experience: 2-4 years of professional accounting experience.
- Software Proficiency:
Advanced Excel: Mastery of VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and complex formulas is critical.
Accounting Systems: Experience with (QuickBooks / NetSuite / Sage Intacct / SAP) or similar
- Technical Knowledge: Strong foundation in GAAP and internal controls (e.g., SOX compliance).
- Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong time management to meet deadlines, and excellent verbal/written communication for explaining financial data to non-accountants.
COMPENSATION: This is a 1099 position, pay rate will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
