Position Summary

Hippo Veterinary Group is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations. This role is heavily focused on transactional accounting, ensuring that financial activity is recorded accurately and timely across multiple locations.

We are seeking a candidate with strong accounting skills, a service-oriented mindset, excellent interpersonal abilities, and a collaborative approach to supporting both internal teams and clinic staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Record daily cash transactions and ensure accuracy in the general ledger
• Perform daily and monthly cash reconciliations
• Review and approve credit card expenses in a timely manner
• Process and monitor employee expense reimbursements
• Review and approve invoices to ensure accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with company policies
• Support accounts receivable and monitor collections activity
• Assist with month-end close tasks, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Maintain organized and accurate financial records
• Ensure compliance with company policies and proper expense coding.
• Provide responsive, service-oriented support to employees and clinic teams regarding accounting questions and processes
• Assist with ad hoc tasks and special projects as needed

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Basic understanding of accounting principles
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a service-oriented approach
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Preferred (but not required)

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Experience with expense management tools (e.g., Ramp)
• Experience in a multi-entity or multi-location environment
