LaSalle Network is hiring on behalf of an Evanston based utilities company, seeking a Workers Compensation Specialist. The Workers Compensation Specialist is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of workers’ compensation claims and ensuring accurate, compliant processing of all related activities. This role supports injured employees, partners closely with third-party administrators and legal teams, and ensures the organization meets all regulatory, payroll, and reporting requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high volume of complex cases in a fast-paced environment.

Workers Compensation Specialist Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day workers’ compensation activity, serving as the primary point of contact for all new and ongoing claims.
- Conduct initial claim intake, distribute required WC documentation (rights & responsibilities, FAQ sheet, prescription card), and ensure employees engage in appropriate treatment.
- Process and track medical and lost-time claims annually, communicating regularly with employees, supervisors, department heads, claims adjusters, and legal partners.
- Maintain accurate and timely data entry within the WC system; monitor claim progression for compliance and required action.
- Perform biweekly payroll edit reviews for employees on light-duty or off-duty status, ensuring all hours worked or missed are coded correctly.
- Process PSEBA (Public Safety Employee Benefits Act) insurance reimbursements on a monthly basis.
- Administer one-time overrides (OTOs) for missed health, dental, life, and other insurance deductions to ensure proper employee benefit coverage.
- Partner closely with the third-party administrator (TPA) and outside attorneys to support ongoing claims.
- Ensure proper medical arrangements for injured employees and validate all medical billing against the approved fee schedule.
- Strong knowledge of workers’ compensation regulations, ideally within a municipality or public-sector environment.
- Proven ability to independently manage a high volume of ongoing claims with competing deadlines.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in data entry, billing review, and payroll alignment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with employees, leadership, TPAs, medical providers, and legal counsel.
- Ability to work with discretion, maintain confidentiality, and uphold compliance standards.
