About the Role
Our client, a leading energy infrastructure company, is seeking a Regulatory Policy Manager to join a team that evaluates and shapes policy developments across competitive energy markets in North America. This role centers on interpreting evolving market rules and converting them into strategic insights that guide commercial planning, investment decisions, and long‑term portfolio positioning.
The position involves direct engagement with external market participants-including grid operators, regulatory agencies, and industry groups. You will represent the organization in policy forums, build relationships across the sector, and help articulate informed perspectives on emerging regulatory issues. The role is both cross‑functional and externally facing, collaborating closely with internal commercial, operations, and development teams.
What You Will Do
Monitor and participate in policy discussions across multiple competitive energy markets in the U.S. and Canada.
Build and maintain relationships with grid operators, regulatory staff, and independent power producers.
Represent the company in technical committees, stakeholder groups, and industry forums.
Analyze regulatory proposals and rule changes, summarizing their commercial and investment implications.
Advise internal teams-including development, trading, and asset management-on regulatory trends affecting asset performance and strategy.
Prepare briefings for senior leadership, connecting policy developments to business priorities.
Support the development of organizational positions on market design issues and coordinate engagement strategies across regions.
Collaborate with external advisors and partners, integrating their insights into broader regulatory and commercial assessments.
Develop analytical frameworks to evaluate how market rule changes influence asset economics and competitive dynamics.

Ideally, You Have…
A Bachelor's degree (advanced degree in economics, public policy, engineering, or law preferred).
6 years of experience in competitive energy markets, regulatory policy, utility regulation, or a related field.
Direct experience participating in stakeholder processes with regional grid operators or regulatory bodies.
A demonstrated ability to build relationships with market operators, regulators, and industry participants.
Strong understanding of market design, power system economics, and regulatory frameworks.
Experience supporting or advising commercial, development, or trading teams.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including financial modeling or quantitative analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
Compensation & Work Environment
Base salary: $125,000-$140,000
Bonus: Annual performance‑based bonus
Location: Five days a week, on‑site in New York City
