We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Paralegal to support an Employment Litigation practice group within a corporate legal department. This role will provide paralegal support for employment litigation, administrative agency charges, subpoenas, compliance projects, internal and external reporting, and electronic matter-management systems.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm, strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high-volume workload while handling confidential information.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial case assessments and identify and obtain relevant documents to support counsel in employment litigation and administrative charges.
- Coordinate, schedule, and, when directed, interview custodians and witnesses to verify facts and identify relevant documents.
- Draft chronologies of relevant facts, documents, witnesses, and events to support assigned counsel.
- Under attorney supervision, gather, review, and organize information for discovery and early case assessment.
- Prepare initial draft responses to administrative agency requests for information and subpoenas.
- Identify, gather, organize, and prepare documents and information for submission to agencies or other parties.
- Serve as a liaison between outside counsel, in-house counsel, and internal business clients.
- Coordinate collection and delivery of documents and data to outside counsel or government agencies.
- Conduct follow-up activities to ensure timely completion of legal requests.
- Assist with presentations and briefings for internal business stakeholders.
- Support attorneys with research, document gathering, file organization, and other legal projects.
- Compile information and prepare internal reports, including forecasts, project updates, legal invoices, accounting information, and data from various databases.
- Maintain accurate electronic matter-management records and files.
- Handle confidential and sensitive legal information appropriately.
- Prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a high-volume environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma 8 years of experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm; OR
- Associate's Degree 4 years of experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm; OR
- Bachelor's Degree with experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm.
- Additional relevant work experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, business stakeholders, and outside counsel.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
