Job Summary
The Job Location and Development (JLD) Program Administrator plays a vital role in connecting Lamar University students with meaningful off-campus employment opportunities. This position focuses on building strong relationships with local employers through strategic outreach and community engagement, while also supporting students in their job search and career development. The administrator develops marketing materials and manages communications, in coordination with the Student Affairs Marketing Manager, to promote the JLD program and HireACardinal platform, oversees data tracking and reporting using systems like Handshake, SLATE, and Banner, and ensures the integrity of the job database. Additional responsibilities include participating in career fairs and employer events, and providing support in testing labs such as Pearson Vue or Prometric. This multifaceted role requires strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills to enhance student employment outcomes and community partnerships
Essential Job Functions
- Develop and Maintain Employer Relationships by cultivating partnerships with local employers by attending Chamber of Commerce events, ribbon cuttings, and conducting outreach through phone, email, and in-person visits to promote student employment opportunities and the JLD program.
- Support Student Career Development by assisting students with job search strategies, including resume and cover letter preparation, interview coaching, and referrals to Career Consultants for additional guidance and resources.
- Coordinate Marketing and Communication, aligned with university standards, by creating and distributing promotional material such as website content, brochures, and handouts to raise awareness of the JLD program and the HireACardinal job platform among students and community stakeholders.
- Manage Data and reporting systems by tracking student job placements and earnings, verifying enrollment, and completing required reporting using systems such as Handshake, SLATE, and Banner to ensure program compliance and effectiveness.
- Oversee job database and event participation by approving and monitoring job postings in Handshake to maintain database integrity, promote HireACardinal to employers, and represent the JLD program at career fairs, networking events, and testing centers as needed, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or other closely related field, or current enrollment in a bachelor’s program with an expected graduation date within the next 6 months.
- One or more years of experience in career services, workforce development, or student services.
- Experience in marketing and communications.
