TITLE: Payroll Accounting Specialist
REPORTS TO: Operations Controller
SUMMARY: Process payroll for up to 10 entities operating in multiple states.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process payroll for up to 10 companies (weekly)
- Calculate and remit federal payroll taxes
- Calculate and remit state payroll taxes (multiple states)
- Prepare quarterly state and federal unemployment returns
- Prepare quarterly 941 and yearly 943 tax reports
- Handle tracking and payment of payroll garnishments
- Initiate direct deposit with banks each payroll as needed
- Enter new hire information into payroll systems
- Import timekeeping information into payroll systems
- Upload general ledger information from payroll into accounting system
- Worker Comp – self-reporting and payment
- Prepare inter-company billing for labor costs
- Reconcile monthly benefits billings
- Reconcile general ledger accounts
- Post Cash Receipts
- Prepare reports for audits
- General reporting needs
- Perform other job-related duties as needed or directed.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Ability to work well independently and as a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of Excel and Outlook
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Detail oriented
- Ability to handle confidential information
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related area preferred
- Three to five years' payroll processing experience
- Spanish Bi-lingual preferred
