About the Role:
The Patient Care Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring seamless coordination between dental care providers, patients, and insurance companies. This position is responsible for managing insurance claims, verifying patient coverage, and facilitating timely reimbursements to support the financial health of the dental practice. The coordinator acts as a liaison to resolve insurance-related issues, helping patients understand their benefits and coverage limitations. By maintaining accurate records and staying current with insurance policies and regulations, the coordinator ensures compliance and optimizes revenue cycle management. Ultimately, this role contributes to an efficient, patient-centered experience by minimizing insurance-related obstacles and supporting the practice’s operational success.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in dental insurance coordination or medical billing.
- Strong knowledge of dental insurance plans, terminology, and claim processes.
- Proficiency with dental practice management software and electronic health records (EHR).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with multiple dental insurance carriers and familiarity with ADA CDT codes.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex insurance claim issues.
- Experience in a fast-paced dental or healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Verify patient dental insurance coverage and eligibility prior to appointments.
- Prepare, submit, and follow up on dental insurance claims to ensure timely payment.
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim denials, discrepancies, or delays.
- Assist patients in understanding their insurance benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date insurance records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with dental office staff to coordinate billing and patient scheduling based on insurance authorizations.
- Monitor changes in dental insurance policies and update internal procedures accordingly.
