The Role Of The Quality Engineer
- Assist in sustaining the existing Kratos ISO 9001 quality management system
- This role is a direct report to the Director of Quality
- Working very closely with Production and Manufacturing Engineering leads to further evolving QMS processes
- Foster a Culture of Quality and Safety across the organization while mentoring quality and test personnel
- Support and facilitate the development and implementation of LEAN processes that support production, including quality, supply chain, and planning
- Conduct and facilitate root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to effectively resolve quality issues / customer escapes
- Participate in the Kratos internal audit program as a Lead to ensure compliance with quality processes, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to resolve quality concerns
- Work closely with training coordinators to develop and execute effective training across the organization
- Lead Quality/Cross-functional standup meetings on a regular basis
- Lead Gemba walks and CI projects
- Support the management of warranted SCARs
- Represent Kratos in front of customers, suppliers and 3rd party auditors in a professional and effective manner
- Other relevant tasks as determined by the Director of Quality
- Associates degree or 2-year Certificate in a technical discipline (min requirement)
- Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline (highly desirable)
- 10 years in a production environment (min requirement)
- 5 years in a decision-making quality leadership role required (e.g. Quality Engineer or Quality Manager)
- Direct management / supervision experience of quality inspectors and test technicians required
- Must be an active ASQ member in 2025
- Six Sigma / LEAN manufacturing experience required
- 10 years of demonstrated work experience in a fast-paced production environment
- Must be highly motivated, adaptable, detail-oriented, and quick learning professional
- 5 years’ direct work experience in an ISO 9001, 13485 or AS9100 environment
- Must have advanced experience with industry standard RCA tools (5-Why, Fishbone, Cause & Effects Diagram)
- Possession of a relative advanced ASQ certification (CQA, CQE, CQM/OE) or desire to achieve this certification
- Must be able to interpret detailed technical schematics and drawings as required
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and industry standard ERP systems (e.g. Oracle, SAP, JobBoss)
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude
- Must possess effective and professional communication skills both verbal and written
- Direct experience with UL 508A / 891 / 1008 listed equipment a plus
