Compensation: $25.00–$26.00 per hour
Job Summary:
The Quality Control Technician I provides support in the identification, development, and deployment of specifications, special controls, tests, inspections, validations, and verification activities that help ensure product quality. This role supports quality-related processes and works collaboratively across the organization to maintain established quality standards. The ideal candidate possesses strong verbal and written communication skills, effective problem-solving abilities, and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively participates in the maintenance and continuous improvement of the company’s Quality/Business System, taking ownership of job-specific process maps and supporting related processes and cross-functional teams
- Supports verification activities to ensure received products comply with order requirements and specifications
- Supports Materials Management in the evaluation, selection, monitoring, and assessment of supplier quality performance
- Performs mechanical, electrical, and chemical inspections of received products using drawings, specifications, statistical analysis, and precision measuring equipment to verify compliance with requirements
- Prepares product inspection instructions
- Develops visual inspection reports to track inspection results and identify non-conformance trends
- Investigates and purges stock of discrepant parts and materials
- Assists in determination of departmental responsibilities for defect prevention
- Provides support in measuring and test equipment calibration and maintenance to assure product conformance
- Assists in the controlled release of urgently needed material prior to completion of receiving activities
- Performs data analysis
- Prepares charts, graphs, reports, and other communication tools to evaluate and communicate the effectiveness of the Quality System
- Provides support in the review, analysis, and development of specifications, blueprints, engineering change requests (ECRs), engineering change orders (ECOs), technical manuals, bulletins, advertisements, and related documentation
- Participates in engineering tryouts and product implementation activities. Assists in identifying and developing special controls, testing requirements, and skill requirements necessary to ensure product quality. Supports the development and documentation of inspection checkpoints and methods and provides input related to product design reliability and usability
- Provides support in initiation, audits and verifications of compliance of processes prior to first product acceptance
- Assists with field failure investigations and corrective action activities and serves as a liaison between Quality, Product Support, and Technical Services teams
- Assists with training programs to help ensure personnel whose work impacts product quality are properly trained and qualified to perform their assigned responsibilities
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Three or more years of previous work experience in inspection or auditing
- Ability to use a personal computer and software for technical documentation and data analysis
- Ability to write reports, chart data and provide other technical documentation
- Ability to meet project deadlines and work within budgetary constraints
- Ability to effectively communicate information and respond professionally to questions from management
- Ability to interpret and follow instructions provided in written, verbal, and diagrammatic form
- Ability to identify, analyze, and help resolve issues related to product failures and corrective actions
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds while demonstrating tact and flexibility
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and quality inspection tools
Preferred:
- Additional course work in quality and quantitative methods
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing is required to perform the essential functions of this position
- Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, and/or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a manufacturing or shop environment while utilizing a variety of tools, instruments, and inspection equipment
- Ability to travel to other locations both within and outside of the local region
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Ability to listen, understand and solve problems
