Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $24.71 per hour. The salary upon hire is $24.71 per hour and will increase to $26.32 after six months of satisfactory performance.
Benefits: Full-time employees receive a benefits package including subsidized medical insurance and fully paid dental insurance for employee and dependents, as well as short-term disability insurance and life insurance. This position participates in the Washington State Public Employees’ Retirement Plan with the option of participating in a state administered deferred compensation plan. Employees receive a general leave accrual rate of 6.7693 hours per pay period and 11 holidays for which pay is pro-rated based on the number of hours worked per pay period up to a maximum of 80 hours per pay period.
Kitsap Transit also provides employees and certain dependents with a free transportation pass on Kitsap Transit buses and ferries.
Hours of Work: Work is conducted between the hours of operation for Facilities Maintenance which currently is Monday – Saturday, from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. Shifts will be assigned based on seniority and/or business needs.

- Assists in the installation of new structures and the repair and maintenance of existing facilities; sets up tools and materials and cleans up upon completion of work.
- Performs general landscape maintenance and clean up, including brush removal, pruning trees and shrubs, mowing and edging, weed removal, digging, planting, watering, and repairing sprinklers; picks up trash and empties trash receptacles.
- Excavates, builds forms for, and pours concrete pads/slabs; finishes concrete; assembles and installs bus shelters; prepares and paints curbs, shelters, and other agency facilities; removes graffiti.
- Operates hand tools, power tools, and light to heavy vehicles used in construction and maintenance work.
- Assists with hazardous material clean up.
- Maintains records of work performed.
- Occasional operation of a man lift, scissor lift, and forklift after training
