Primary Purpose:
Provide leadership for the district’s curriculum, instruction, and student support systems through strategic planning, program evaluation, and continuous improvement.
Ensure alignment of instructional programs, assessment systems, and resources with district goals to improve student outcomes.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Master’s degree in education administration, curriculum & instruction or related field
Texas Mid-Management or Principal Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment systems
Ability to analyze data and evaluate instructional effectiveness
Knowledge of TEKS Resource System and DMAC
Knowledge of state and federal accountability frameworks
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to train and support teachers and professionals
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Experience
Five years experience as a classroom teacher
Five years experience in instructional leadership roles
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of curriculum and instructional programs aligned to district goals.
• Oversee Special Education, Bilingual/ESL, Dyslexia, Gifted and Talented (GT), Teacher Mentor Program, Instructional Specialists, Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA), and Intervention supports.
• Design and oversee systems for data analysis, progress monitoring, and program evaluation to improve student outcomes.
• Collaborate with district and campus leadership to support instructional practices and initiatives, including Grow-Your-Own teacher programs.
• Ensure the availability and effective use instructional materials, resources, and technology. • Oversee professional development aligned to instructional priorities, including support for the teacher appraisal system.
Assessment and Accountability
• Oversee the district’s assessment and accountability systems, including data analysis, forecasting, and structured review cycles to drive continuous improvement.
• Communicate updates and guidance regarding state and federal accountability systems, assessment requirements, and regulations.
Policy, Compliance, and Reporting
• Ensure compliance with federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy.
• Stay current on research and best practices to inform program and policy decisions.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of required reports and documentation.
Budget
• Develop and administer the curriculum and instruction budget based on program needs.
• Ensure operations are cost effective and funds are managed responsibly.
Personnel Management
• Provide leadership, supervision, and evaluation of assigned staff, including hiring, development, retention, and discipline.
• Develop and maintain job descriptions aligned to departmental responsibilities.
Communication and Community Relations
• Communicate district goals, expectations, and student performance data through presentations and ongoing engagement board, principals, staff, parents, and community groups.
• Maintain strong relationships and open communication with principals, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.
• Promote understanding of the district’s instructional programs and priorities.
Other
• Participate in professional development as required to improve required skills in content and program areas.
• Cooperate with other staff members in promoting a positive organizational climate.
• Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
• Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise, support, and evaluate the Director of Special Education, Director of ESL/Bilingual, Director of Curriculum, Coordinator of Instructional Technology, and other instructional supervisors and support staff in the curriculum department.
