What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator- Safety & Emergency Mgmt. position at Kilgore Independent School District?
Primary Purpose:
Coordinate District safety, security, and emergency management programs including supervision of general building conditions, emergency response programs, and coordination of educational programs to ensure the safety and security of District staff and students.
Counsel the KISD School Board and District Administration on matters related to safety, security and emergency management.
Lead and serve on the District Threat Assessment Team.
Coordinate crisis response programs with emergency service providers.
Qualifications:
Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in criminal justice, emergency management, law enforcement, or related field -Or- Master’s degree in education - experience in school safety is preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of Incident Command Systems and Continuity of Operations
Knowledge of Texas Unified School Safety Standards and school safety audit processes Knowledge of school drill policies and procedures, safety policies, and fire codes
Ability to interpret law, policy, guidelines and procedures
Knowledge of TEA compliance training and reporting
Knowledge of TEA Safety Portal - Sentinel
Knowledge of MSDS chemical safety and OSHA requirements for record keeping
Experience
Three years experience in K-12 school administration, criminal justice, emergency management, public safety, law enforcement, or emergency communications
Experience in the implementation and supervision of a comprehensive school safety program preferred
Supervisory experience preferred
Salary : $59,540 - $73,000
