SQL Lead / Data Engineer

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a remote SQL Lead/Data Engineer to join their team. Summary: We are seeking a seasoned Lead SQL Resource to serve as our onsite technical lead. This role combines deep SQL expertise with strategic guidance on data workflows and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with complex query development, provide architectural insight into transitioning SQL-heavy processes to Java, and build tools to enhance visibility into data dependencies. Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the onsite lead for SQL development, coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders
• Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions
• Lead data analysis efforts to support business decisions and ensure data accuracy and consistency
• Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Write, optimize, and refactor complex SQL queries and stored procedures
• Clearly explain query logic and performance implications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Perform query performance tuning and troubleshoot bottlenecks
• Develop tools or frameworks to visualize query dependencies and data lineage across systems
• Map all touchpoint tables, views, stored procedures, ETL jobs-that interact with or are impacted by specific queries
• Support impact analysis and change management through enhanced visibility into data flows
• Serve as the onsite lead, coordinating with cross-functional teams and external partners
• Translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
• Mentor junior developers and promote best practices in SQL development and data architecture
  
  

Requirements

• 7 years of hands-on SQL development experience
• Experience with enterprise platforms such as SAP, Snowflake, or similar
• Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and performance optimization
• Familiarity with Java and its role in modern data architectures
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience with data lineage, metadata management, or query visualization tools is a plus
  
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
