Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Pipelines
- Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries to support registry analytics, charge reconciliation algorithms, and clinical/financial dashboards.
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that support trauma, burn, EGS, and RCM data workflows.
- Ensure high data quality, consistency, and reliability across multiple hospital data sources.
- Serve as a technical expert for hospital registry and revenue cycle customers, assisting them in onboarding, data integration, and ongoing analytics enhancements.
- Collaborate with clinical subject matter experts, product managers, and customer success teams to deliver custom dashboards and analytics modules using Apache Superset.
- Gather feedback, train users, and build solutions that address unique clinical and operational requirements for each customer.
- Develop, customize, and maintain dashboards and analytics modules using Apache Superset.
- Partner with clinical SMEs, product managers, and customer success teams to deliver high-impact dashboards for trauma program performance improvement, financial validation, and quality reporting.
- Ensure all data handling meets or exceeds regulatory standards including HIPAA, SOC 2, and hospital security requirements.
- Implement data validation, auditing, and documentation best practices.
- Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks across SQL systems, ETL pipelines, and visualization environments.
- Advocate for scalable design as we grow from 100 hospitals to 700 by 2028.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 5 years of hands-on SQL engineering experience with strong query optimization skills.
- Proven experience deploying, customizing, and maintaining dashboards in Apache Superset.
- Strong understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
- Experience working with healthcare data types such as trauma registry data, EHR extracts, HL7, FHIR, or claims datasets.
- Knowledge of healthcare privacy and compliance standards (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to clinical and non-technical audiences; experience working directly with customers or clients in a technical capacity.
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages to support ETL or analytics workflows.
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) for data storage, pipelines, and access control.
- Familiarity with other BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
- Experience in trauma registries, RCM, CDI, or hospital data ecosystems is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated ability to gather requirements, train users, and deliver customer-facing analytics solutions in a healthcare environment.
