Payroll Supervisor

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Payroll Supervisor in Annapolis, MD. Duties:

• Payroll Supervisor will oversee and support day-to-day payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Ensure payroll is processed correctly for exempt and non-exempt employees, including shift differentials and other earnings types
• Manage payroll activities in a multi-state environment, ensuring proper taxation and compliance
• Act as an escalation point for complex payroll issues and employee inquiries
• Provide hands-on supervisory leadership to a payroll team, offering guidance, support, and oversight
• Assist with workload prioritization, training, and performance support
• Foster a collaborative and detail-focused payroll function
• Work closely with third-party payroll providers (experience with UKG preferred: ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms acceptable)
• Support system accuracy, troubleshooting, and ongoing process improvements
• Support or lead state payroll tax reconciliations and address discrepancies
• Assist with or oversee payroll and benefits compliance, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations
• Maintain strong internal controls, documentation, and audit readiness
• As a Payroll Supervisor, you will support internal and external audits as needed
• Independently prioritize work and meet strict payroll deadlines
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency, and controls
  
  

Requirements

• Prior experience in a Payroll Lead or Supervisor role
• Experience processing multi-state payroll (8 states strongly preferred)
• Hands-on experience with third-party payroll systems (ADP, UKG, Paychex, or similar)
• Experience working in a fast-paced, complex payroll environment
• Proven success managing or supporting payroll operations
• Exposure to state tax reconciliations and/or benefits compliance

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
