Computer Operator - Mainframe

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in San Antonio, TX that is seeking a Computer Operator professional with experience using mainframe scheduling systems to manage and control batch workloads in a production environment. Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and manage batch schedules using mainframe scheduling tools
• Query scheduling systems to track job status and dependencies
• Add, remove, and modify job schedules as required
• Run forecasts and analyze batch flows to identify potential issues
• Support daily batch operations and coordinate with operations team
  
  

Mainframe activities, such as the following, often require cooperation among the various roles:

• Installing and configuring system software
• Designing and coding new applications to run on the mainframe
• Introduction and management of new workloads on the system, such as batch jobs and online transaction processing
  
  

Requirements

• Attention to detail
• Basic PC knowledge
• Able to work well with others
• Ability to learn and retain what they have learned
  
  

Preferred Skills

• Mainframe Operations experience
• Ability to actively work within a scheduler (not just familiarity)
• Strong troubleshooting and monitoring skills
• Experience supporting enterprise batch environments
• JCL knowledge is helpful, but not required
  
  

Hands-on experience with mainframe scheduling systems such as:

• ZEKE experience preferred
• CA-7 experience
• Control-M (or similar MF schedulers) experience
  
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
