*Roles and Responsibilities*
- Periodically tours buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure and not tampered with:
- Check all hospital doors that should be secured at a minimum of every three hours.
- Checks physicians' offices and satellite buildings at least two times per shift.
- Checks parking areas at least three times per shift
- Monitors various camera monitors periodically.
- Logs visitors and assigns name tags during visitation hours.
- Confronts unauthorized people for questioning, routes or detaining them, or telephones police for assistance, according to circumstances.
- Sounds the fire alarm to alert fire department and hospital personnel of need to extinguish a fire.
- Patrols hospital grounds and camera system to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles.
- Checks cars and verifies if vehicles are parked in restricted areas, such as fire zones, turnarounds, ambulance entrances, or reserved parking areas.
- Check exterior lighting and access routes to emergencies and fire entrances. Reports lighting failures.
- Escorts personnel and visitors to and from parking lots or between buildings as requested.
