This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Assistant Teacher is responsible for the health, safety, welfare, and personal growth of each child age 5 - 12 within a 1:18 ratio at various school age childcare locations and programs. The School Age Assistant Teacher understands the Kenosha YMCA has zero tolerance for abuse of youth in its programs by employees or volunteers and will follow child abuse prevention policies, comply with mandated reporting requirements, and cooperate with law enforcement.

- Must be 18 years old but can be 16 with DPI course
- Ability to provide proof of current CPR and First Aid Certification
- Must meet Wisconsin state licensing qualification as Assistant Teacher as minimum certification
- Experience working with children
- Willingness to learn state licensing childcare regulations and procedures for group day care centers
- Ability to work cooperatively with youth, parents, staff and community organizations
- Joy and satisfaction in working with children
- Ability to work with general supervision
- Background check cannot contain offenses restricted by state law
