This position supports the mission of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Early Childhood Teacher works collaboratively with staff to implement, supervise, evaluate, and participate in daily classroom activities that create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
The Early Childhood Teacher ensures children are supported, actively engaged, and enjoying their daily experiences while maintaining compliance with all child safety policies, mandated reporting requirements, and YMCA standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities (literacy, social-emotional learning, STEAM, etc.)
- Supervise and ensure the safety of children at all times
- Support daily routines including meals, diapering, toileting, and transitions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment
- Communicate effectively with parents through daily interaction and conferences
- Complete required documentation (attendance, portfolios, reports, medication logs)
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and program events
- Follow all licensing regulations, YMCA policies, and safety procedures
- Support positive behavior guidance and model YMCA values
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 21 yrs or older.
- Required to keep First Aid, CPR, and AED Certificate current.
- 1-3 years’ experience working with children.
- Willingness to learn state licensing childcare regulations and procedures for Group Day Care Centers.
- Registry Level 7 or Higher.
- Ability to work cooperatively with youth, parents, staff and community organizations.
- Joy and satisfaction in working with children.
- Ability to work independently.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Background check cannot contain offenses restricted by state law.
