Position Summary
The Legal & Compliance Intern will support the department in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies. This role provides hands-on experience in legal research, compliance monitoring, and risk management. The intern will work closely with legal counsel and compliance officers to assist with projects that maintain the organization’s ethical and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Research & Analysis
- Conduct research on laws, regulations, and industry standards relevant to the organization.
- Summarize findings and prepare briefing notes for internal stakeholders.
- Document Review & Drafting
- Assist in reviewing contracts, agreements, and compliance-related documents.
- Draft basic legal correspondence, internal memos, and policy updates under supervision.
- Compliance Monitoring
- Support compliance audits and risk assessments.
- Track regulatory changes and assist in updating internal compliance policies and procedures.
- Data & Record Management
- Maintain accurate records of legal and compliance documentation.
- Organize and update databases for contracts, regulatory filings, and compliance reports.
- Reporting & Communication
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal stakeholders on compliance status.
- Assist in creating training materials for compliance programs.
- Administrative Support
- Schedule meetings, manage calendars, and coordinate with external counsel or regulatory bodies.
- Handle filing and document organization in accordance with confidentiality standards.
- Gain practical experience in legal research and compliance processes.
- Understand regulatory frameworks and risk management strategies.
- Develop professional skills in document drafting, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
- Interns are paid - Rising Juniors$15hr, and Seniors $16hr
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Law, Legal Studies, Business Administration, or related field.
- Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Successful completion of sophomore year
- This year’s program runs from June 1st - August 6th, with office hours of 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday – Thursday
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
