Responsibilities For The Controller Position
- Oversee general accounting operations including monthly close, reporting, payroll, payables/receivables, and compliance
- Identify, create and maintain best accounting and reporting processes ensuring it follows GAAP guidelines
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts
- Monitor and track spend across key departments to ensure accuracy and alignment with financial goals
- Prepare reports and data to support fundraising activities and investor communications
- Ensure ongoing compliance with accounting standards and industry-specific regulations
- Serve as a key liaison for external partners including audit and tax firms
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (CPA preferred) but not required
- 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, ideally within life sciences or a related field
- Prior experience in early-stage or startup/growth-stage companies preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial systems
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment and wearing multiple hats
