Duties and Responsibilities
Climbs poles and towers, and works from and operates aerial lift equipment.
Education / Experience:
High School Diploma/GED required, and completion of a recognized apprentice program for Journeyman Lineman or have satisfactory equivalency.
Position Requirements (Abilities): Incumbent must be able to follow verbal and written instructions; able to operate trucks, aerial lifts, and associated tools and equipment. Must be able to properly use, read, and apply information gathered from meters and instruments that is required in the maintenance and construction of electric distribution facilities. Must be able to work overtime, holidays, and regular days off as required. Must have a good attendance and safety record. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as required by the State of for vehicle(s) operated.
All applicants for this position who do not presently hold a safety sensitive position will be required to submit to a drug test after successful bid and before actual appointment.
Prerequisite Skills
Incumbent must be skilled in operation of tools, equipment, and test instruments necessary to the maintenance and construction of electric facilities. Skilled in reading line construction drawings and sketches.
Physical Requirements
Applicants must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Duties and Responsibilities
Climbs poles and towers, and works from and operates aerial lift equipment.
- Performs the installation, maintenance and removal of overhead and/or underground lines and equipment.
- Operates machinery, equipment and tools incidental to the installation, maintenance and removal of line equipment.
- Performs work on the ground, such as framing poles, digging holes, installing anchors, wrecking out material, and other groundwork related to the installation, maintenance or removal of line equipment.
- Periodically relieves Foreman or Lead Lineman in their absence.
- Keeps truck and equipment in clean condition and makes written reports of truck trouble to garage.
- Follows established safety rules and practices as agreed upon in the Working Rules Agreement.
- Performs other duties of a similar or related nature that are incidental to work of this classification. Splice and terminate cable 4/0 and smaller.
- Handles domestic, special, and hazardous waste generated from work activities safely and appropriately.
