Position Summary:
The Director of Recruiting will be responsible for the oversight and evaluation of high school, junior college and transfer student athletes throughout the recruiting process for the University of Kanas football program. The Director of Recruiting will also be the primary trainer and teacher for player personnel student workers as well as overseeing and assisting with all recruiting processes and functions.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
- Manage logistical aspects of recruiting efforts for assistant coaches and player personnel department staff.
- Direct oversight of the communication plan for all high school, junior college and transfer recruits; to include use of Whistle recruiting text messaging platform, mailers and note writing series.
- Manage the weekly staff recruiting calls know as ‘Power Hours”.
- Research, oversight and utilization of platforms that will utilized in communication for prospects, high school coaches and families.
- Research prospects background using platforms such as UC Report, Zcruit and data from Catapult and other platforms.
- Oversight of ARMS data base with Director of Player Personnel.
- Oversight of all information and data collection for high school student-athletes being recruited.
- Create, plan and implement a yearlong social media calendar.
- Liaison with Creative media regarding all recruiting graphics and recruiting video content and inform the football staff of postings from Football twitter account that should be retweeted or pushed from staff social media outlets.
- Research background of potential student-athletes using a variety of resources including publications, blogs, websites, recruiting services, and other means of communication.
- In conjunction with Director of Recruiting operations, create recruiting aids to assist coaching staff with off-campus recruiting visits, including maps, directions to schools, school reports and detailed information on high school coaches and prospects.
- Evaluation of high school recruits on the defensive side of ball.
- Evaluation of college transfer prospects as designated.
- Assist in organization, planning and executing recruiting weekends and functions, including junior days, game day visits and summer camps.
- Assist general Manager and Director of Player Personnel with recruiting meeting organization.
- Assist Director of Player Personnel and recruiting staff as permitted by NCAA rules and policies governing non-coaching staff members.
- Additional duties as assigned by General Manager, Director of Player Personnel or Head Football Coach.
Work Environment
This job operates in both a professional office environment and outside at football-related events, including inclement weather. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and various digital devices, including, but not limited to: cell phone, printer, copy machine, and other related devices. This job requires flexibility and adaptability in schedule and the ability to perform job related duties on short notice.

Moderate travel is expected for this position.
Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will vary based on the needs of the football program and as job duties demand. Early morning, evening and weekend work is required.

Qualifications:Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in recruiting for an NCAA Intercollegiate Athletics program;
- Must have general knowledge of NCAA compliance guidelines;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.);
- Demonstrated strong sense of initiative, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines, and a willingness to be flexible in managing changing priorities;
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail;
- Demonstrated ability to utilize good judgement in the interpretation and application of policies and procedures as to exercise discretion in confidential matters is essential;
- Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively with a large coaching and support staff;
- Ability and willingness to work an irregular schedule to support prospect recruiting events, home sporting event, camps/clinics, which will involve occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed during peak sport seasons.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a Division 1 Power 5 football program;
- Experience with database management or knowledge of ARMS software;
- Creative experience with Canva, Adobe Suite, or other services.
