JW Bell is looking for a full-time 1st shift CNC Machinist to set up machines, run parts and program the CNC mills and lathe.
The right employee will be reliable and able to work 40-50 hours/week depending on the schedule. This position involves being on your feet for long periods of time, bending, twisting and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Essential Functions
- Understand and capable of operating shop equipment including live tooling lathe, large horizontal boring mills, modern vertical mill, radial drill, manual mills.
- Set-up and operate machinery to verify accuracy of machine settings, perform part inspections to verify dimensional data, ensure shop performance, safety, and quality goals.
- Machine new or repair metal products and equipment for both internal and external customers. This will include a diverse selection novel and “one time” parts as well as standard repeating rebuilds.
- CNC programing at the machine using available prints / 3D models and existing programs as reference. This position requires you to be comfortable altering, updating, and editing programs on the floor, on the fly.
- Simple hole, probe, and milling programs may be created exclusively on the floor.
- Maintain daily PM, coolant concentrations, machine cleanliness, and basic trouble shooting.
Experience:
- CAD-CAM programming familiarity
- Manual programing at the machine
- Cutting tool selection
- Set-up and loading programs, fixtures, tooling
- Skilled at reading and interpreting customer prints
- At least 2 Years CNC Programming Lathes / Mills, including live tool lathes
- Proficient in shop math
- Two-year technical degree in machining or closely related field or equivalent shop floor experience
- Ability to use precision measuring devices
