Just Construction is recruiting an Assistant Project Manager for an established Southwest Florida General Contractor with a strong reputation for delivering commercial construction projects.
About the Role
This is a hands-on opportunity for a construction professional who wants to work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, subcontractors and clients throughout the life of a project. The ideal candidate is someone who understands that successful construction comes from being involved, staying organized, solving problems quickly and taking ownership rather than simply managing paperwork from an office.
Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager with day-to-day management of commercial construction projects.
- Assist with projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Coordinate with Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, engineers, vendors and clients.
- Manage and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings and project documentation.
- Assist with procurement, material tracking and subcontractor coordination.
- Review plans, specifications and scopes to identify potential issues.
- Assist with change orders and project cost tracking.
- Support project scheduling, updates and short-term planning.
- Attend project meetings and maintain accurate meeting minutes and action items.
- Assist with invoices, purchase orders and project financial documentation.
- Track project progress and communicate issues, delays and required actions.
- Participate in site visits and work closely with the field team.
- Assist with punch list, closeout, warranty and turnover documentation.
Qualifications
- 3 years of commercial construction experience.
- General Contractor experience preferred.
- Experience with multifamily, hospitality/hotel, medical office buildings or similar commercial projects is highly desirable.
- Multifamily experience involving masonry and precast/block-and-plank construction is a strong plus.
- Ability to read and understand plans, specifications and construction documents.
- Strong subcontractor and project-team coordination skills.
- Organized, proactive and detail-oriented.
- Strong communication and follow-through.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.
- A hands-on mentality and willingness to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
Pay range and compensation package
Projects are typically in the $15M–$20M range, with the company also delivering larger projects, including multifamily developments approaching $80M .
