Our client, a leading manufacturer, is seeking an HR Specialist for a 6-month contract with potential to convert. This position performs various HR duties in areas such as talent acquisition, employee relations, employee communication, compliance, development, and continuous improvement. The HR Specialist primarily supports hourly production, quality and operations staff utilizing a working knowledge of employment practices and procedures, Company policies, and performance management processes. Familiarity with the Company's benefits programs and their administrative requirements are also required.
Candidates must be local to the Greater Philadelphia area and willing to work onsite to be considered for this opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Partners with client group (primarily Direct Labor population) on all employee relations and performance management issues, including the corrective action process and coaching.
- Advises client group on the performance management and salary planning processes.
- Provides guidance on best practice and tools available
- Supports the selection and on-boarding process for all Direct Labor employees. Works with the client group and Talent Acquisition and partners with supervisors on selection criteria and interviewing
- Administers site candidate care. This includes new hire orientation, scheduling interviews, and coordinating paperwork with HR Operations while meeting federal compliance record keeping requirements
- Maintain and organize documentation related to the collective bargaining agreement and support compliance with union processes.
- Monitor and track grievance timelines, seniority lists, bid processes, and other CBA-governed activities.
- Continually looks for and recommends areas for improvements within processes, systems, and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with all regularity requirements and company policies and procedures.
- Facilitates training and development, as needed, and supports corporate training initiatives
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs
- Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation
- Supports the local HR team in all other administrative duties, and occasional non-core office hours
- Provides back-up support to HR Generalist and other site HR staff as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, or other related discipline
- 1-3 years’ experience in HR or business-related support function
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data management.
- Highly organized with proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly
- Understanding of basic HR compliance, I-9 requirements, and standard onboarding processes.
