SPEECH THERAPIST - (PRN)

Overview:

The Speech Therapist for Home Health is responsible for providing speech-language therapy services to patients in their homes. This includes evaluating speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The role requires strong clinical skills, compassion, and the ability to work independently in a home health setting.

Essential Functions:

• Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations for home health patients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Provide therapy services for speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
• Educate patients and caregivers on therapy techniques and progress.
• Document patient care and progress in EMR system.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements.

Job Qualifications:

Education:

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program. Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Texas.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in speech therapy, preferably in a home health setting.

Skills:

• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations.

Environmental and Working Conditions:

Provides therapy services in patients’ homes. Must be able to travel locally. Flexible schedule required. May encounter various home environments and weather conditions.

Physical and Mental Effort:

Requires physical mobility to perform home visits. Must be able to manage stressful situations and maintain professionalism. Requires attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
