About the Opportunity
A leading private client services practice is seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Administrative Paralegal to support sophisticated estate administration, trust administration, and fiduciary accounting matters. This newly created role offers the opportunity to work within one of the country's most respected trust operations teams, supporting attorneys and high-net-worth clients through complex estate and trust matters.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience supporting trust and estate administration, probate administration, or fiduciary services
- Knowledge of probate court procedures and regulatory requirements
- Experience preparing fiduciary accountings and estate-related financial documentation
- Familiarity with estate tax preparation, fiduciary tax matters, and trust accounting principles
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, PDF software, document management systems, and legal technology platforms
- Experience with tax preparation software and accounting programs such as FastTax, ProSystems, or similar platforms
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive client information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated empathy and professionalism when assisting clients navigating complex life events
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of estate and trust administration from beginning to end, collaborating with attorneys as needed
- Identify, gather, value, and organize estate and trust assets
- Prepare probate filings, fiduciary reports, inventories, and other estate administration documents
- Prepare detailed fiduciary accountings for estates and trusts
- Assist with the preparation of federal estate tax returns, state estate tax returns, and related tax filings
- Review and interpret wills, trusts, and estate planning documents in collaboration with attorneys
- Coordinate trust funding and implement estate planning strategies during the administration process
- Conduct legal and factual research using court records, regulatory resources, and reference materials
- Communicate regularly with clients, financial institutions, accountants, and other professional advisors
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with applicable court and regulatory requirements
