St. Pius X Catholic School in Corpus Christi is seeking exceptional individuals for the following position: Full-Time Teacher’s Assistant.

Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic church
- Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Provide assistance to the teacher(s) as the instructional program necessitates
- Supervise individual students and small groups of students as learning activities are implemented
- Assist in preparing instructional materials and bulletin boards
- Able to use multimedia material and equipment to reinforce lesson presentations
- Perform clerical work as needed
- Supervise students during activities, as assigned by the teacher(s) or the Principal
- Plan instruction/activities together with the teacher(s)
- Attend in-services and workshops as directed by the Principal
- Performs other duties as directed by the teacher(s) and/or the Principal
Mental/Physical Demands:
- Lifting of 10 pounds or more
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
- Maintain confidentiality
Knowledge and Skills:
- Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
- Skill in demonstrating professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
- Knowledge of child development, learning, and behavior preferred
- Skill in motivating and engaging students in the learning process
- Skill in collaborating with peers to enhance the work environment and support instructional planning
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school matters
- Ability to manage student behavior in a classroom setting
- Ability to work well with others in the school community
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English
- Must be able to respond to the needs of children
- Non-Catholic teacher aides are required to have knowledge of the Catholic faith and support the goals of Catholic tradition in education
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
Additional Requirements:
- Submit to employment required screenings including criminal history background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record check
- Obtain certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources
- Position requires adherence to diocesan policies and procedures
