St. Pius X Catholic School in Corpus Christi, Texas, is seeking a full-time Receptionist for the 2026-2027 school year. The Receptionist will report to the school Principal and is responsible for performing general office functions. The list of duties below reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the primary functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.
Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- As an integral part of ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Performs receptionist duties, including answering phone calls, greeting visitors, and answering general questions pertaining to the school
- Prepares correspondence for the Principal
- Handles incoming and outgoing mail
- Maintains student files, family accounts, and other records as required by the Principal
- Prepares folders for new student applicants
- Operates general office equipment, including copier, computer, laminator, square payment device, and security cameras
- Maintains confidentiality on all financial matters
- Appropriately utilize the school accounting systems and FACTS SIS
- Create and advertise school events and activities on the school social media pages and website
- Maintains office supply inventory
- Attends in-services, workshops, and other school/parish events as instructed by the Principal
- Performs other office duties as instructed by the Principal, including, but not restricted to, Business Office functions
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Mental/Physical Demands:
- Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more
- Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress
- Must maintain confidentiality
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English and Spanish is a plus
- Must be able to respond to the needs of children
- Knowledge of the Catholic faith and support for the goals of Catholic tradition in education
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Must be 21 years old or older
Additional Requirements:
- Submit to employment required screenings including a criminal history background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle record check
- Obtain certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources
- Position requires adherence to diocesan policies and procedures
