Job Summary
The Quality Technician I is responsible for inspecting and testing raw materials, in‑process products, and finished goods to ensure food safety, quality, and consistency. This position supports production by monitoring quality systems, collecting data, and identifying potential issues in a food manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and test products for quality and consistency, including visual checks, tasting (organoleptic testing), weight, size, moisture, and salt levels.
- Verify correct product, labels, date codes, lids, and packaging on production lines.
- Perform metal detection and other food safety (CCP) verification checks.
- Conduct sanitation inspections and ATP testing.
- Collect samples, record results, and enter quality data accurately.
- Perform environmental pathogen swabbing.
- Place product on hold and report issues when results are out of specification.
- Follow all food safety, quality, sanitation, and company procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Food Safety & Safety Expectations
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP/FSMA, SQF, allergen controls, and all regulatory requirements.
- Immediately report food safety or quality concerns to supervision.
- Follow all safety rules and safe work practices.
- Report unsafe conditions or hazards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous food manufacturing or quality experience preferred, but not required.
Skills & Physical Requirements
- Ability to taste and evaluate snack products, including nut products.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Basic math and documentation skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to use basic testing and measuring equipment (scales, moisture and salt analyzers, oxygen analyzers, water activity meters, and color meters).
