Construction Estimator – Heavy Civil

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our heavy civil construction team in Austin, Texas. This position is ideal for an estimator with at least three years of experience in heavy civil construction who is looking to grow within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The Estimator will assist in preparing accurate and competitive bids for infrastructure and site development projects while working closely with senior estimators, project managers, subcontractors, and field operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects.
Review project plans, specifications, bid documents, and geotechnical reports.
Assist with pricing for:
Earthwork
Underground utilities
Roadway and paving
Drainage systems
Site development
Concrete work
Utilize HeavyBid software to develop and manage estimates.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
Support bid preparation and proposal submissions.
Coordinate with operations teams to verify production rates and construction methods.
Attend pre-bid meetings and project site visits as needed.
Maintain organized estimating files and historical cost data.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating.
Experience working on civil infrastructure, sitework, utility, grading, paving, or roadway projects.
Proficiency with HeavyBid software required.
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and estimating principles.
Experience with Microsoft Excel and quantity takeoff processes.
Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with TxDOT or municipal infrastructure projects.
Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
Familiarity with HCSS products and construction management software.
Knowledge of local subcontractor and supplier markets in Central Texas.
