About the Role
We are seeking a Screed Operator to set up and operate asphalt screeds to achieve precise grades, slopes, and mat thickness, ensuring a smooth and uniform asphalt surface as per project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up and operate asphalt screeds for proper grade, slope, and mat thickness
• Read and interpret project plans, profiles, and layout markings
• Monitor asphalt flow, temperature, and material distribution for consistency
• Coordinate with paver, roller, and lute operators for smooth workflow
• Identify and correct surface irregularities like bumps, low spots, or uneven compaction
• Perform routine equipment inspections and minor troubleshooting
• Follow highway safety rules, traffic control plans, and site protocols
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Ensure safe, high-quality asphalt paving operations
Candidate Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2–3 years of experience operating asphalt screeds on highway/commercial projects
• Strong knowledge of screed setup and adjustments for proper grade and slope
• Ability to read project plans and layout markings accurately
• Experience monitoring asphalt flow, temperature, and placement quality
• Ability to coordinate with paving crew effectively
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
• Strong focus on safety, quality, and reliability
• Daily travel required with reliable transportation
