We are hiring for one of our clients in the aerospace and advanced technology sector for a Principal Engineer / Scientist – Program Management role based in Des Plaines, Illinois.
This role involves providing technical leadership across advanced technology programs, including life support systems for space, marine, and terrestrial applications. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage complex programs, and drive innovation from concept through commercialization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage large-scale technical programs across multiple sites
- Oversee program performance, including technical, financial, and schedule metrics
- Define and align technical and product roadmaps with business objectives
- Identify and develop new business opportunities with strategic customers
- Manage risk and implement mitigation strategies
- Guide teams in developing and transitioning advanced technologies to production
- Mentor team members and support capability development
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical field
- 10 years of experience managing technical programs in aerospace or advanced technology domains
- Proven experience delivering products from concept to production
- Experience working with government or regulated industry programs
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Experience leading global, cross-functional engineering teams
- Strong background in advanced materials, thermal systems, or life support technologies
- Experience in research, patents, or technology commercialization
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Compensation
Estimated annual salary range: USD $173,000 – $216,000
Additional incentive plans may apply. Final compensation depends on experience and qualifications.
