About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mobile Equipment Mechanic on behalf of one of our clients to maintain and repair a fleet of heavy mobile and industrial equipment. This role is essential to ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and operational readiness within a cement plant environment.
You will be responsible for diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance of diesel and gasoline-powered equipment, while contributing to a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on mobile and heavy equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine-related issues
- Repair and maintain diesel and gasoline engines, including ignition, fuel, and steering systems
- Operate and inspect heavy equipment to identify defects and required repairs
- Use computerized diagnostic tools and calibration equipment
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools
- Maintain service records and schedule maintenance activities
- Interpret manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Perform routine servicing such as lubrication, tire, battery, brake, and valve maintenance
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols (LOTO, confined space, working at heights, PPE, OSHA/MSHA standards)
- Promote a safe and environmentally responsible work environment
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate’s or Technical degree in automotive, maintenance, or related field preferred
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience working with diesel engines and heavy equipment
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and planning techniques
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools and industrial equipment systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Additional Requirements
- Experience with haul trucks, loaders, and mining/heavy equipment
- Ability to operate shop tools, air and hydraulic jacks, grinders, and welders
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
Compliance:
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of PPE, including respirators where required
Work Environment
- Industrial plant setting with exposure to heavy machinery, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions
