About the Role
We are seeking an Electrical & Automation Engineer on behalf of one of our clients to support plant process control systems and drive continuous improvement in electrical and automation performance. This role focuses on monitoring, programming, testing, commissioning, and maintaining plant control systems while enhancing equipment reliability, efficiency, and overall plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain plant Process Control Systems (PCS) to ensure reliable operations
- Develop, test, and implement control system programming and automation solutions
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and ensure seamless system integration
- Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and automation issues to minimize downtime
- Provide expertise in power distribution, motors, transformers, drives, and PLC systems
- Conduct electrical design and modifications to improve plant performance (OEE, MTBF, availability)
- Integrate legacy systems into modern PLC-based control environments
- Collaborate with maintenance, production, and process teams to optimize operations
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and electrical standards
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in a cement plant or similar industrial environment
Technical Skills
- PLC programming and process control systems (e.g., ABB 800xA, Siemens S7)
- Knowledge of instrumentation, motors, starters, and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- Experience with industrial communication networks (Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet)
- Familiarity with SAP, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office tools
- Understanding of high and low voltage power distribution systems
Additional Requirements
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with electrical safety practices and arc flash considerations
- Ability to work with capital and operational budgets
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Self-motivated with strong planning and organizational skills
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of PPE, including respirators where required
Travel
- Up to 10% for training and project support
Work Environment
- Industrial plant setting with exposure to electrical systems, heavy equipment, and varying environmental conditions
