Role Overview:
We are seeking an Advanced Optical Systems Engineer to lead the design, simulation, and qualification of precision optical and electro-optical systems in Crystal, MN. You will design lens systems, lasers, and optical sensors for aerospace, defense, and high-precision sensing applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, model, and optimize complex optical systems, lens assemblies, and illumination optics using Zemax or CODE V.
- Perform tolerance analysis, stray light analysis, and wave-front aberration modeling.
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering teams on optomechanical packaging and sensor integration.
- Plan and execute optical laboratory testing, alignment (interferometers, spectrometers), and calibration procedures.
- Document technical specifications, test reports, and verification plans for optical hardware subsystems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electro-Optics, or related discipline.
- 5 years of experience in optical system design, lens modeling, and electro-optical testing.
- Advanced proficiency in optical simulation software (Zemax OpticStudio, CODE V, or FRED).
- Hands-on experience with optical alignment, interferometry, laser systems, and optical cleanroom protocols.
- Strong technical presentation, project management, and collaborative problem-solving abilities.
