What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Door & Dock Technician position at JJS Group?
About Us
We are a premier, well-established commercial door and loading dock equipment company that has been serving the Greater Cleveland area for nearly 50 years. We specialize in providing high-quality products and wicked-fast, responsive service to our commercial and industrial partners. We believe in establishing collaborative, long-term relationships—not just with our customers, but with our team.
Due to the upcoming retirement of our most senior technician, we are looking for an experienced Commercial Door & Dock Technician to step into a high-volume, highly respected role. If you are looking for a stable, professional home where your expertise is valued and rewarded, we want to hear from you.
What You Will Do:
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of commercial doors, including rolling steel fire doors, sectional doors, and high-performance/high-speed overhead doors.
- Service and repair comprehensive loading dock equipment (levelers, restraints, and lifts).
- Work with specialty products including gate operators, security bollards, pedestrian impact doors, and access control systems.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance to help our clients reduce downtime and increase operational efficiency.
- Communicate professionally with clients on-site to explain repairs and ensure absolute customer satisfaction.
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience: 3 years of proven field experience installing and repairing commercial overhead doors and/or loading dock equipment.
- Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot electrical components, motors, and low-voltage access controls (e.g., photo-eyes, loop detectors, smart controls).
- Certifications: Welding experience or IDEA Certification (such as Certified Rolling Steel Fire Door Technician) is a massive plus, but not strictly required.
- Requirements: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Must be comfortable lifting heavy equipment and working at heights.
- Attitude: A self-starter who comes prepared, works safely, and gets the job done right the first time.
Why Join Us?
- Immediate High-Level Work: You will be stepping into an established route and taking over high-level accounts from a retiring senior technician.
- Stability: Nearly 5 decades of continuous growth and steady work in the Greater Cleveland market.
- Compensation: Highly competitive pay based on your specific commercial experience, plus consistent hours and overtime opportunities.
- Support: We are a team that actually answers the phone when you need backup in the field.
Salary : $30 - $45
