Our client is seeking an experienced, autonomous Senior Loading Dock & Door Technician to handle high-volume commercial routes and step into a leadership or team-lead capacity on major field projects.
The Role As a Senior Technician, you will operate independently in the field, managing service, repair, and installation calls without direct supervision. You will serve as a technical expert on heavy loading dock systems and commercial overhead doors, with the immediate opportunity to lead crews, run large-scale installations, and train junior helper technicians.
What You Will Do:
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install comprehensive loading dock systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, and air-bag dock levelers, vehicle restraints, and dock seals/shelters.
- Service and install various commercial overhead door systems, including sectional doors, rolling steel fire doors, and high-speed industrial doors.
- Perform structural field modifications and installations utilizing stick welding and fabrication skills.
- Lead job site crews on larger installations, managing equipment startups, final system checks, and blueprint/schematic reading.
- Train and mentor junior technicians or helpers assigned to your vehicle or project.
- Act as a professional, client-facing representative of the company, diagnosing equipment issues and communicating repair recommendations clearly to facility managers.
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience: 5 years of proven field experience specializing in commercial loading dock equipment and industrial door service.
- Technical Skills: Rock-solid baseline in mechanical systems, industrial hydraulics, basic electrical troubleshooting (motors, limit switches, photo-eyes), and structural welding/fabrication.
- Leadership Aptitude: Proven ability or strong willingness to lead a team, coordinate job site workflows, read mechanical drawings, and take ownership of a project from start to finish.
- Tooling Requirements: You must possess your own standard industry hand tools to perform essential daily technical tasks.
- Logistical Requirements: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Must be able to pass a standard background verification and drug screen.
- Physical Ability: Comfortable lifting heavy industrial components, working in various weather conditions, and operating heavy equipment (scissor lifts, aerial booms, forklifts).
