Experienced Host/Hostess
Reports to: General Manager, Jersey Prime Management Staff
Department: Reception
SUMMARY: The host/hostess is responsible for welcoming guests, managing seating arrangements and contributing to a positive dining experience. If you love making people feel welcome and thrive in a lively, guest-focused setting, we’d love to meet you.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly and graciously greets all guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas
- Open the front door for guests entering and leaving restaurant
- Provide guests with menus upon seating
- Receive and manage reservations in the reservation system and via phone
- Locate waiting parties when table become available
- Verbally engage with guests, assist with establishment questions
- Respond to any complaints and relay to management staff
- Answer phones and respond to inquiries
- Maintain communication with management, serving staff and guests to ensure that dining details are handled properly and guests’ concerns are addressed
- Inspect lobby and dining areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup
- Escort guests to lounge and hotel
- Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return
- Receive and organize to-go orders
- Assist managers with other duties related to the restaurant
Qualifications
Previous experience as a restaurant host in a high-volume setting.
Strong knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Knowledge of POS systems is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- The worker is subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as wind and humidity.
- The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
Physical Requirements:
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
- · Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
- · Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
