Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking a caring and attentive Patient Care Associate (PCA) to support the Hospice Unit in providing comfort, dignity, and respectful care to patients and their families.
Position Overview:
As a Hospice Patient Care Associate, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients experience comfort and compassion during their final stages of life. You will assist with personal care, monitor patient well-being, and offer meaningful support to patients and their loved ones, working closely with nurses and the hospice care team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
- Provide a calm, compassionate presence for patients and families, offering emotional support as needed.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable patient environment.
- Assist with patient positioning, turning, and transportation within the unit.
- Support nursing staff in preparing patients for care procedures and ensuring patient dignity at all times.
- Accurately document care activities in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Respect and honor the individual preferences and cultural needs of each patient.
