Jamaica Hospital Medical Center has an immediate opening for a Clinical Nurse Manager in the Emergency Department.
Jamaica Hospital located in Queens, NY and minutes from NYC is a 402 bed fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and level I Trauma and Stroke Center. The hospital’s emergency department— a designated Level I Trauma Center and a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center – is one of the busiest in New York and the only one in South Queens. It is designated as a NYC Hypothermia/Cardiac Destination Facility and includes a dedicated pediatric emergency room, chest pain center, and fast track area for minor injuries. We treat 117,000 patients treated annually.

The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) of the Emergency Room oversees the daily operations of the ER to ensure high-quality, evidence-based patient care is delivered efficiently and effectively. The CNM provides leadership to nursing staff, coordinates with multidisciplinary teams, ensures regulatory compliance, and fosters a culture of safety, teamwork, and excellence in emergency care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support ER nursing staff, including scheduling, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios and resource allocation based on patient acuity and volume.
- Collaborate with physicians, EMS, and support services to ensure efficient patient flow and care delivery.
- Monitor and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.
- Developing and implementing comprehensive nursing care plans for patients with complex conditions.
- Serving as an educational resource for patients, families, and nursing staff.
- Participating in discharge planning.
- Maintain compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and hospital policies and standards.
- Evaluating patient outcomes and staff performance.
- Participate in hiring, orientation, and ongoing staff education and development
- Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff, assisting in complex cases and emergency situations.
- Lead departmental meetings and serve as a liaison between nursing staff and upper leadership.
- Identifying and addressing opportunities for improvement.
