Job Summary
Full-time faculty members at Jacksonville University are expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes, conduct scholarship and engage in professional development activities, and complete university and/or community service.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Most faculty positions do not have supervisory responsibilities
Some may have supervisory responsibilities when the faculty member is serving in a Director or Associate Dean position for additional compensation and or release time. This will be specified in the contract.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Teach classes—a typical l0ad is 24 hours annually
- Advise students as assigned.
- May engage in research/scholarship
- May supervise student research projects
- May supervise student internships
- Participate in university service at the department, school, college, or university level
- Participate in community service (optional)
Required Skills/Abilities
- The ability to teach a broad range of lower-level and upper-level courses
- The ability to incorporate technology into classroom teaching and to teach online and hybrid classes
- The ability to work with diverse students and small class sizes
- Participation in departmental, school, college, or university service
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- The ability to work in a collaborative and cooperative manner
Education and Experience
Typically, an advanced degree in the area of expertise
Physical Requirements
- Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
- Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and virtually. • Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
- Stamina to teach up to 24 hours weekly.
