Job Summary
The Jacksonville University Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences’ Comprehensive Oral Implantology Program seeks candidates for an Adjunct position. The successful candidate will join a diverse group of faculty, clinical directors, residents, and staff in their mission to achieve excellence in teaching, scholarly activity, and service.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• None.
Duties/Responsibilities
Lecture courses are typically taught in the evenings at 8 PM ET and are fully online. Adjunct faculty members must perform all duties associated with teaching graduate-level courses. These duties include:
• Course development
• Creating a syllabus that includes course objectives, assignments, assessments, and rubrics
• Providing lectures to fulfill the course objectives
• Leading class discussions
• Grading assessments and providing final evaluations
• Providing prompt responses to student questions
Required Skills/Abilities
• Diagnosis and treatment planning
• Socket grafting, guided bone regeneration, and maxillary sinus augmentation
• Overview of oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures
• Understanding of mandible, maxilla, and bone physiology/repair
• Overview of implants, their concepts, techniques, and maintenance
• Soft tissue management
• Fixed and removable prosthodontics in implant dentistry
• Periodontal aspects of implant dentistry and peri-implantitis prevention and treatment
• Advanced dental implant procedures including zygomatic and pterygoid implants
• Management of implant-related complications
• Overview of head, neck, and plastic surgery procedures
• Laser surgery and treatments
• Computer-assisted surgery
• Utilization of artificial intelligence in medicine/dentistry
• Management of medically compromised patients
• Pharmacological considerations for implant dentistry
• Conscious sedation of the implant patient
Preferred Skills and Experience
• Experience teaching or practicing in implant dentistry or oral/maxillofacial surgery
• Expertise in advanced implant techniques and digital dentistry
• Demonstrated ability to integrate technology and evidence-based practices into instruction
Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience
• Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) required
• Previous teaching experience at the graduate or postdoctoral level preferred
Physical Requirements
• Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
• Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone
